A ticket emailed as a PDF is a ticket somebody will be looking for in the car park. Business Dash issues the same ticket or season pass as a wallet pass — on the lock screen, updated in place when the start time moves, and revoked when the card is lost.
A season pass is the entitlement. An RFID card, a wallet pass and a printed QR are three ways of showing it, and one person may hold all three. They are stored separately from the pass on purpose: losing a card must revoke the card and not the season, and with a single code on the pass those two are the same action. A resort reissues cards at a desk every day of the week.
Doors open at eight, then they open at nine. A wallet pass changes on the lock screen; a PDF in an inbox does not, and the venue spends the evening explaining. Passes carry the change, which is most of the reason to issue one.
Apple and Google are two implementations of one internal shape, and neither is named anywhere outside its own adapter file. An org signs with its own certificate; the platform never holds a signing key that admits people to somebody else's building.
