Skis, boots, tools, hire cars, PA systems, bikes. Business Dash tracks each thing out on loan against the customer who took it, brings back what comes back — including the half of it that comes back — and settles the deposit as two honest numbers rather than one netted one.
A family takes skis, poles and boots and comes back with two of the three. Returning is per item, because a rental marked returned when the boots are still in a car is a rack that says it has stock it does not have — discovered on a Saturday morning with a queue at the counter.
Two hundred held against three hundred and fifty of damage is not a refund of minus one-fifty. It is a release of zero, two hundred withheld, and one-fifty owed — a refund and an invoice going to two different places. The counter screen and the server compute that split with the same function, so what staff quote is what gets charged.
The rentals screen buckets everything out into overdue, due soon, and out, and the counts add up to the fleet with nothing double-counted. Overdue sits at the top and stays there, because the pile you can hide by clicking a column header is the pile nobody rings.
