Set the arrangement once, not fifty-two times

Every _n_ weeks or months, narrowed by which days. That covers weekly, fortnightly, monthly on the 15th, twice monthly on the 1st and 15th, every two months, and Mon/Tue/Fri/Sun — the last of which most systems cannot say at all.

"Daily" is just all seven days ticked, which is why there is no separate daily mode to drift out of step with the others.

⚠️ "Bi-monthly" means both *every two months* and *twice a month* depending on who is saying it. Neither is assumed. You pick the one you meant, and the schedule shows you the actual dates before you commit.

A monthly round on the 31st lands on 28 February and then goes back to the 31st in March. That sounds obvious and is where most scheduling gets it wrong: step from each visit to the next and the February clamp sticks, quietly walking the round back to the 28th of every month for ever.

Each visit is worked out from the original arrangement rather than from the visit before it, so one short month cannot move the rest.

A landscaper stops in December, a teacher stops for the summer, a resort's lesson programme runs May to September. A pause is a stretch the round simply does not run — and it can repeat annually, so "we do not work in February" is said once rather than remembered every year. The round is not cancelled and nothing needs restarting in spring.

Call off a single Tuesday and the round carries on. Regenerating the schedule will not quietly put that visit back either — a cancelled visit stays cancelled, because somebody meant it.

Pausing works the same way: a round on hold for August is still the arrangement, and it resumes with its history intact rather than being rebuilt from scratch.

A domestic customer gave somebody keys. The round carries its usual assignee, so the default is continuity rather than whoever happens to be free — and dispatch can still override any single visit without disturbing the arrangement.
